What’s Up, Buttercup LLC…

What’s Up, Buttercup is a new company formed by Joanne Gardner. Prior to moving to Livingston, Montana, Gardner was the head of video production for Sony Music for 10 years, overseeing videos for such artists as Bob Dylan, Will Smith, Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Alice in Chains, Gretchen Wilson and Aerosmith, among hundreds of others.

Gardner started in videos in Nashville, as co-owner of ACME Pictures, with Rosanne Cash. ACME produced hundreds of videos, including the much awarded “Tear in My Beer” video, a special effects wonder, giving Hank Williams, Jr. the opportunity to sing a “duet” with his late father. Gardner began directing videos during this time, for such artists as Marty Stuart, Alison Kraus, Tim O’Brien, Tanya Tucker, Rodney Crowell, Delbert McClinton and many more. She was the first female director awarded the ACM award for “Video of the Year” for Tanya Tucker’s “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane.”

What’s Up, Buttercup hopes to bring songwriters and performers to the Montana area on a regular basis.
